When I was a kid I wanted to be a filmmaker. I guess that comes from growing up in LA. After making a few films in high school and college I discovered still photography. I hung out in the B+W darkrooms at Berkeley when I wasn’t studying or working in the library. I met some amazing photographers and saw their work. I was hooked.
I started my career shooting for a small newspaper in Seattle during the week, and shooting horse shows on weekends. Soon I decided I needed formal training and went to photography school. Afterwards I assisted commercial photographers for a few years before opening my own studio in Seattle in 1984. Now I love photographing people, and products, and food, and architecture and anything industrial. Oh, and for fun I photograph birds on weekends.
When you hire me to make your photographs you are getting 30 years of experience as a photographer and problem solver, boundless energy, and the ability to really listen to what you need. And I’m good at lighting too.
